It's week two of three for the top 36 on American Idol. The second set of 12 semifinalists hit the stage for a chance to be one of the 12 finalists. With Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver and Danny Gokey already having secured their spots as finalists, three more will attempt to join them by having the performances of their lifetime.
Here's how the second group of 12 fared:
Jasmine Murray - Love Song by Sara Bareilles
Not very good and a terrible way to start the show. A very boring/average karaoke performance that did nothing to help Jasmine prove that she should be a finalist.
Matt Giraud - Viva La Vida by Coldplay
Good God man! I liked this guy before the night started, but he destroyed Coldplay's song tonight. Not a good performance at all. Another drunk karaoke performance. He gambled and it did not pan out for him.
Jeanine Vailes - This Love by Maroon 5
Horrible. I don't know what is going on tonight, but the first three people have absolutely sucked. I'm pretty sure I have seen drunk sorority girls sing better on karaoke night than each of the first three semifinalists tonight. Holy hell!
Nick Mitchell aka Normal Gentle - ? a little improv
This is one weird dude. He is funny as hell and has shown that he can actually sing. The dude can perform and I think he proved that tonight. Norman is a fan favorite and I think Normal lives on. I just don't know if it will be in this competition.
Allison Iraheta - Alone by Heart
Some raw talent and composure, especially from a 16 year old. Best performance of the night so far. Rocked it out! Should be plenty to keep her around and send her to final 12.
Kris Allen - Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson
Anytime somebody sings Michael Jackson, I cringe a little bit. It's hard to outdo Michael, but it acutally was a solid performance. He performed well, but I don't know if he will have the fan support to get him through. It could be a toss-up on whether he goes or stays.
Megan Joy Corkrey - Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae
This was the best performance of the night. Hands down! This girl has talent and she will make it through to the top 12. She has a uniqueness about her and she could do some big things in the music business. She will make it through.
Matt Breitzke - If You Could Only See by Tonic
Matt sang the song very well. The only problem I had was with his stage presence. It was okay for me, but he didn't do anything to make me remember him. He is a likeable guy, so his fans could keep him in it, but it won't be easy.
Jesse Langseth - From the Inside by Kim Carnes
Jessie was in way over her head. She just isn't that good and it showed tonight. Should be the last time we see Jesse on American Idol. I already forgot her.
Kai Kalama - What Becomes of the Brokenhearted by Jimmy Ruffin
It was good, just not good enough. This night was full of people that are decent, but he didn't do anything special for me. Probably not good enough.
Mishavonna Henson - Drops of Jupiter by Train
Terrible. Very boring.
Adam Lambert - Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones
What a weird take on one of the greatest songs ever. Completely made it his own. Did a great job, but I don't know if I liked it. Really weird. I think it was very good and could very well be good enough to cruise into the final 12.
My predictions to make it through: Megan Joy Corkrey, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta
