Book Suggests A-Rod Used Steroids In High School

In the book 'A-Rod', scheduled to be released May 12, it is suggested that New York Yankees star third baseman Alex Rodriguez has been on steroids since his teen years while attending Miami's Christopher Columbus Catholic High School.

The book, written by Sports Illustrated's Selena Roberts, offers an unflattering portrayal of the baseball star that could destroy what career the slugger has left.

A-Rod has admitted to using steroids while while with the Texas Rangers, but insists it was only during the span with the Rangers and has quit taking them since he has been with the Yankees. The book, however, says that a high school teammate of Rodriguez told Roberts that the slugger was on steroids and that the his high school coach Rich Hoffman knew about it. The book also notes that Hoffman denies the accusation.

The book also supports the accusations that A-Rod is still using steroids in the Yankees clubhouse based on side effects and other evidence.

This book is sure to cause quite a stir and if A-Rod's reputation was destroyed with the initial steroid scandal, it will surely be hurt even more if the information presented in the book is indeed true. A-Rod has transformed himself from an Idol for youngsters to a complete asshole that nobody should model themselves after. He may be a talented ballplayer, but he isn't so great that his ego can get in the way of the game. He is not bigger than the game of baseball and frankly he should be drug tested every day until he is out of the game for good.

The story was first reported by The Daily News.
