Vols Jones Hurts Ankle, Out 4-6 Weeks

Tennessee Vols receiver Gerald Jones is hurt again, this time it's his ankle. The Vols most experienced receiver can't seem to shake the injury bug as suffered a high ankle sprain in Saturday's scrimmage.

The junior receiver has been battling back from offseason surgery to his wrist. The new injury could keep him out 4-6 weeks, presenting another challenge for the UT offense to deal with. The Vols currently have their top three returning receivers from a year ago battling injuries. Senior Austin Rogers (ACL) is out for the year and Denarius Moore (foot) is expected to miss at least the first two games of the season.

With this loss, the Vols are left with Quinton Hancock and converted tight end Brandon Warren as their top two receivers. Meaning, freshman Nu'Keese Richardson, Zach Rogers and Marsalis Teague will all be give ample opportunity to step up and prove they are ready for SEC action.

Then again, if the quarterback production is anything like last season, it doesn't matter who is out running routes for the Vols.
