After Florida's win over Tennessee Saturday, Gators coach Urban Meyer said the Vols weren't playing to win, so as any respectable coach would do - Kiffin jabbed back. The Meyer quote that has earned all the attention is: "They wanted to shorten the game. I remember looking out there and there's 10 minutes left in the game and there's no no-huddle, they are down, I think it was 23-6 and there's no urgency."
Meyer also said that several of his players were experiencing flu-like symptoms in the game - contributing to his team's lackluster showing on the field Saturday.
Kiffin refused to comment directly to the Meyer quote, but stated that he preferred to stick with the running game since the passing game has been struggling. As a result, Montario Hardesty ended up scoring with a 17-yard run on that drive to tighten the deficit 23-13 - where it ended.
Kiffin was then asked if he was worried about the flu also hitting Tennessee, Kiffin responded, "I don't know. I guess we'll wait and after we're not excited about a performance, we'll tell you everybody was sick."
Nice one coach.
