Saturday Sports Briefs

Former New England Patriots Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel are heading to Kansas City in exchange for the 34th overall pick in this year's NFL Draft. This is a great deal for Kansas City, who is getting a quarterback that could emerge into a star. Vrabel adds experience and leadership to a young Chiefs defense. For Patriots fans, this looks like a losing situation.

Brian Dawkins - The former Philadelphia Eagles safety has signed a five year $17 million contract with the Denver Broncos. Dawkins spent his entire career with the Eagles and it seemed like he would retire in Philadelphia. Maybe this is an indication that Dawkins is not happy with the progress the Eagles have made the past couple of years.

Derrick Dockery - The guard is headed back to the Washington Redskins after being cut by the Bills last week. Dockery signed a five year $26 million dollar contract to return to the team that drafted him in 2003. This adds depth to the Skins O-Line and appears to be a win-win for both sides.

New York Jets - After picking up free agent linebacker Bart Scott last week, the Jets and Eagles have reportedly agreed to terms to send cornerback Lito Shepherd to the Jets in exchange for a fifth round draft pick this year and a conditional 2010 draft pick. Good corners are hard to come by and Shepherd can get the job done. Two draft picks may seem like a steep price, but I actually think this is a good deal for the Jets, who needed to fill the cornerback position opposite Darrelle Revis. The Jets have also reportedly re-signed OG Brandon Moore to a four-year, $16 million deal.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh - After visiting Seattle last week and coming out of there without a deal, the receiver is visiting the Minnesota Vikings today. Housh made it known that he would like to play for the Eagles next season, but the feeling might not be mutual. At the moment it looks like its a strong possibility for Housh to return to the Bengals, unless the Vikings can lock him up. It's widely believed the Bengals, Vikings and Seahawks are the leading candidates for Housh's services next season.

Jon Kitna - The former Lions quarterback was picked up by the Dallas Cowboys for an undisclosed draft pick. Kitna isn't a bad guy to have on your team, and a backup role seems perfect for Kitna at this point in his career.

Redskins Front Office is Working Hard!

In what is a non-surprise to Knox Animal, the Washington Redskins locked up Albert Haynesworth on a seven-year $100 million contract with a guaranteed $41 million. The deal could exceed $115 million if all incentives are met.

Personally I am glad the Redskins did something to address their need at DT, but to pay a guy with injury history that is going to be 28 on opening day $100 million is insane. Haynesworth is one of my favorite players and he even went to my Alma mater, University of Tennessee, but this was risky. If he stays healthy though, and maintains his level of play it will make Redskins owner Daniel Snyder a hero because having the chance to add a stud like Haynesworth to your defensive line doesn't happen very often.

The move the Skins made that I more surprised about is the resigning of cornerback DeAngelo Hall to a six-year $55 million deal with $23 million guaranteed.

I thought for sure that the Skins would have to give up on signing Hall with the addition Haynesworth. This inevitably means the end for Shawn Springs, who will most likely be released unless the Skins elect to trade Carlos Rogers. The better move that makes the most sense would be to part ways with the older Springs.

These are good moves for the Skins to start the offseason. The Redskins have a history of blowing money on high priced free-agents and players, but the important thing for Skins fans to know this time is that they actually addressed a necessesity with the signing of Haynesworth. They finally got somebody in there that can plug the middle. It is up to the Redskins now to make sure his motor is always running and he is committed to making the Redskins a winner. He has proven that he was both in Tennessee with both the Vols and Titans, so don't blow it Redskins coaches because Washington got one step closer to having a really competitive team this upcoming season.

Idol Results

Three more contestants were named to the top 12 tonight. Based on last nights performances I predicted that Megan Joy Corkrey, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta would be the three to make it through this week.

The first to make it through was Allison Iraheta. The second to make it through was Kris Allen. The third to make it through this week was Adam Lambert.

Even though Megan didn't get picked tonight, I think she will be a strong wild card candidate.

I had another 2 for 3 week, making my total 4 of 6. I am pleased with my predictions because I feel that Anoop from the first week and Megan from this week will get chosen in the Wild Card round.

So far the top 12 looks like this:
1. Alexis Grace
2. Danny Gokey
3. Michael Sarver
4. Allison Iraheta
5. Kris Allen
6. Adam Lambert

Next week should be another interesting one as three more finalists are chosen.

Dane is the Biggest Liar!

Last night's eliminated contestant Dane has brought about some controversy by claiming he ran a marathon after being kicked off the show. I reported that he did this last night, but I couldn't help but think what an incredible time he claimed to finish it in. It made me feel terrible about myself because I don't think that I could even run one mile at 8 minutes and 53 seconds let alone 26!

Several reports have stated that Dane and his wife ran side by side for 17 miles and then were picked up by a van and driven to the finish line where he and his wife finished in front of the Biggest Loser cameras.

What a bunch of crap if this is true, which it appears it is. If they were going to lie, they should have at least made up a believable time. The Biggest Loser is about creating a new life for yourself and your family, there was no need to lie. America doesn't care what time you finish the marathon in. All that matters is that you gave your all, and getting picked up in a van so that you can cross the finish line is not how to do that.

Dane congrats on finishing 17 miles, but don't make yourself seem better than you are by claiming to do something that you didn't do.

Good Bye Dane!

Dane was by far the strongest contestant on this season's biggest loser. He lost a record 100 pounds in eight weeks on the ranch.

Dane has proven throughout the season that he is a force to reckoned with, and just because he was sent home, I wouldn't count the guy out. Dane is dedicated to living a healthier lifestyle. He ran a 26 mile marathon in 3 hours and 26 minutes with his wife already since he has been kicked off the show.

I love this show, and I think the main reason is because I like to see good people succeed. I think that this has been a great season on the Biggest Loser because I think that every contestant is a good person. It is hard to see somebody go home every week with the lone exception of Joelle several weeks ago.

I have no doubt that Dane will continue to lose weight and shock everybody at the finale.

Knox Animal American Idol Review

It's week two of three for the top 36 on American Idol. The second set of 12 semifinalists hit the stage for a chance to be one of the 12 finalists.

With Alexis Grace, Michael Sarver and Danny Gokey already having secured their spots as finalists, three more will attempt to join them by having the performances of their lifetime.

Here's how the second group of 12 fared:

Jasmine Murray - Love Song by Sara Bareilles

Not very good and a terrible way to start the show. A very boring/average karaoke performance that did nothing to help Jasmine prove that she should be a finalist.

Matt Giraud - Viva La Vida by Coldplay

Good God man! I liked this guy before the night started, but he destroyed Coldplay's song tonight. Not a good performance at all. Another drunk karaoke performance. He gambled and it did not pan out for him.

Jeanine Vailes - This Love by Maroon 5

Horrible. I don't know what is going on tonight, but the first three people have absolutely sucked. I'm pretty sure I have seen drunk sorority girls sing better on karaoke night than each of the first three semifinalists tonight. Holy hell!

Nick Mitchell aka Normal Gentle - ? a little improv

This is one weird dude. He is funny as hell and has shown that he can actually sing. The dude can perform and I think he proved that tonight. Norman is a fan favorite and I think Normal lives on. I just don't know if it will be in this competition.

Allison Iraheta - Alone by Heart

Some raw talent and composure, especially from a 16 year old. Best performance of the night so far. Rocked it out! Should be plenty to keep her around and send her to final 12.

Kris Allen - Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson

Anytime somebody sings Michael Jackson, I cringe a little bit. It's hard to outdo Michael, but it acutally was a solid performance. He performed well, but I don't know if he will have the fan support to get him through. It could be a toss-up on whether he goes or stays.

Megan Joy Corkrey - Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae

This was the best performance of the night. Hands down! This girl has talent and she will make it through to the top 12. She has a uniqueness about her and she could do some big things in the music business. She will make it through.

Matt Breitzke - If You Could Only See by Tonic

Matt sang the song very well. The only problem I had was with his stage presence. It was okay for me, but he didn't do anything to make me remember him. He is a likeable guy, so his fans could keep him in it, but it won't be easy.

Jesse Langseth - From the Inside by Kim Carnes

Jessie was in way over her head. She just isn't that good and it showed tonight. Should be the last time we see Jesse on American Idol. I already forgot her.

Kai Kalama - What Becomes of the Brokenhearted by Jimmy Ruffin

It was good, just not good enough. This night was full of people that are decent, but he didn't do anything special for me. Probably not good enough.

Mishavonna Henson - Drops of Jupiter by Train

Terrible. Very boring.

Adam Lambert - Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones

What a weird take on one of the greatest songs ever. Completely made it his own. Did a great job, but I don't know if I liked it. Really weird. I think it was very good and could very well be good enough to cruise into the final 12.

My predictions to make it through: Megan Joy Corkrey, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta

Redskins To Sign Haynesworth!

Albert Haynesworth is about to be snagged up by the Washington Redskins when free agency begins on Feb. 27th unless the Titans can match the mega deal that is reported. This is a great move for both sides as the Redskins have been needing a stud at DT for several years now. Haynesworth will also get paid what he wants in Washington and if he produces, he will get paid even more down the road.

The reported deal will be worth roughly $100 million that pays $15-16 per year. This news comes from Lance Zierlein of the Houston Chronicle.

Ryan Adams Will Be Back!

Ryan Adams announced last Friday (2/20/09) in his blog that he is calling it quits from the music game. He stated the music business has been "soul destroying". Amidst reading several reports talking about this, I couldn't help but think there is no way he could give up music forever.

Adams said he doesn't know if he is calling it quits forever or not. "Maybe we will play again sometime, and maybe I will work my way back into some kind of music situation, but this is the time for me to step back now, to reel it in," Adams said in his blog.

Rest easy everybody, because I can say that the singer/songwriter will be back. Adams wants to explore other areas including diving into poetry. It seems fitting for a musician to write poetry since, well, music is poetry. There are reports that he has enough unreleased songs to put out multiple albums, so the potential of releasing new albums seems very possible without having to write any new material.

My reasoning for believing he will be back is simple:

Ryan Adams is a musician and a very talented one to say the least. His songs are filled with emotion and experiences. Ryan was once quoted, "I snorted heroin a lot — with coke. I did speedballs every day for years. And took pills. And then drank. And I don’t mean a little bit. I always outdid everybody." Adams claims he is sober now, and maybe his writing is going to take a different road. His first book is set to be released in April, titled Infinity Blues, is a collection of "soul poetry". The lifestyle of a musician can be tough, and it has obviously taken its toll on Ryan and that is why he is taking a break for now. But Adams is a musician, and there is no way he can give it up forever. Plus, who is going to retire with the economy this bad?

The break also sets up a nice reunion with the Cardinals, driving the groups market value up. Ryan, enjoy yourself on your extended vacation and your fans will be waiting for you when you return.

Ben Folds = Awesome!

The Ben Folds show last night at the Valarium in Knoxville, TN was awesome. Ben jammed out in front of a packed venue with several new songs mixed in with classics like Landed and Rockin the Suburbs.

Ben's energy kept the crowd going all night, and his band was incredible. It was one of the most fun shows I have been to. The opening band, The Minature Tigers, were pretty decent as well. The only thing that hindered them was their horrible dancing in various places around the Valarium during Ben's set.

Ben definitely knows how to put on a show and work the crowd. Seeing an artist look like he actually cares about what he is doing goes a long way for fans and Ben definitely knows what he is doing. This was my first time seeing Ben live, but it will definitely not be my last! Mr. Folds, you Sir, kick ass!

MMA Comes To Knoxville!

Knoxville's first pro MMA show made it's debut last night with the XFC: School of Hard Knox at Thompson Bowling Arena... and I was there.

Former UT athlete Ovince St. Preux did not dissapoint when he knocked out Florida Gator loving CT Turner with a kick to the face at the 2:36 mark in the first round. It was by far the most bad ass knockout I have ever seen in my four-year MMA viewing life. Man it was sick, I can not stop thinking about it.

Even though I think the XFC made a serious mistake in choosing TBA over The Knoxville Coliseum, it was a pretty damn good show. Yeah, it was no UFC or any other major fighting brand, and the fighters for the most part were no-names, but it was a great show. I can't get over the fact that there were probably no more than 3,000 people there in a 21,000 seat arena. What kills me is that they are on a 21,000 student campus, and there were no ticket specials or anything catering towards the students. They could have offered 5-10 dollar ticket ranges for students with ID's and the place would have been a little more packed.

Needless to say, it was a great night of MMA, and the XFC is supposed to return in April, but with the lousy appearance, who knows if that will happen. So if it comes back to Knoxville, check it out.

A-Rod Is a Liar!

Yea, I don't know if he is a liar, but I do know that his story is getting less and less believable every passing day. There are new reports that A-Rod's former trainer was banned from Major League Baseball clubhouses because of his link to steroids. The New York Daily News reports that Rodriguez has had a long relationship with trainer Angel Presinal, who "was banned from private areas of every MLB ballpark after an October 2001 incident involving an unmarked gym bag full of steroids" and "accompanied" Rodriguez for the entire 2007 season while staying with the "cousin" who allegedly was his steroid source from 2001-2003.

This situation is blowing up in A-Rod's face, and if he ever thought that this would go away, he is a moron. A-Rod might as well just face the fact that nobody believes what he says now and tell the truth. He may be able to hope that nobody believes it.

He first began to piss me off when he read his entire statement on the first day of spring training. If he really was sorry and was really telling the truth, I don't think he would have read a speech that was probably written by his publicist. Second, the story that him and his cousin took them together seemed fishy. Why would a professional baseball player not consult a doctor or chemist when injecting something into his body? Is this guy an idot? It sure seems that way. It looks like he is less remorseful every day and the fact that he was unprepared as hell while sitting up there in front of the media, leads me to believe he is lying. The whole thing was rehearsed and he is putting on a front.

A-Rod you sir are a dissapointment to Major League Baseball and to the children that look up to you. As long as you play baseball, you will be known as A-Fraud.

Griffey Signs With Correct Team!

Reports Tuesday that Ken Griffey Jr., the 39-year old future Hall of Famer chose the Braves over the Mariners were indeed false. Junior indeed chose the other hat, and I don't know if Junior himself read my blog and realized that he made the wrong decision or what, but the Kid is headed back to where it all began in 1989.

The deal could be anything at this point, but it is believed to be a one year contract worth between $2 and $4 million dollars by the time incentives are thrown in there. It made sense for Griffey to sign in the American League, and he will definitely get plenty of at bats in the pathetic Mariners offense.

Who knows, this may energize the city of Seattle and they might have a winning team again, but then again, probably not. However, this is great news for Mariners fans and for Griffey fans.

Idol Results

The results shows always suck. Talk about a drawn out process. In what takes an hour could be done in less than a minute, but hell, it is what it is.

My top performer of the night Alexis Grace made it through and will be in the top 12. The second to make it through is Michael Sarver. I like the guy and everything, but the man completely butchered Gavin's I Don't Wanna Be. His likability is what carried him through. Anoop didn't make it through this time, but I still have high hopes for him in the Wild Card round. My other guy, Danny Gokey made it through. Was there any doubt?

So, I was 2 out of 3 with my picks. That isn't so bad, especially considering I think Anoop will make it through from the Wild Card round.

"Flower Power" sent packing!

It marks the end of the road for Pink team member Shanon Thomas. After only losing three pounds this week and her mom only losing six pounds, for a total of nine pounds, the Pink team was forced to choose between the two. Shanon wanted to go, so after pleading to the rest of the contestants, the recent tabloid star was granted her wish.

Shanon has been in the tabloids recently after she was arrested for assaulting a man with a bag of flour. Court records show the incident happened in December. Reportedly, Shanon was upset that a tenant living in her home had his TV too loud, so she barged in and flung a bag of flour at his face. She also caused damage to several Christmas decorations in the room.

She faces up to 93 days in jail over the domestic violence charge.

This isn't Shanon's first run in with the law. In 2004, she was arrested for suspicion of a DUI. She was put on 12 months probation and hit with a $1,345 dollar fine.

Shanon weighed in at 280 lbs. when the show began. She lost 45 pounds while on the show and now weighs 198 lbs. Court records show 185 lbs., so it is believed she has continued to lose weight succesfully.

Shanon has picked up Roller Derby and was dubbed the name "Flower Power"... how fitting!

Shanon hopes to wear a size 10 dress to the finale... Let's just hope she is allowed to wear a dress to the finale and not a bright orange jumpsuit.

Knox Animal American Idol Review

The first live show of the eighth season showed that season eight has some talent. If this is any indication on how the rest of season is going to go, it is going to be a good one. In this first group of three, Twelve compete and only three make it through: Top Girl, Top Guy and other highest overall. After the three weeks, the remaining 27 contestants will be thrown into a wild card round to decide the other three to determine the Final 12.

Jackie Tohn
- A Little Less Conversation by Elvis Presley

The performance was terrible. She looked like she should be performing at a strip club, and what the hell was she wearing? Very surprised if we see Jackie again.

Ricky Braddy - A Song For You by Leon Russell

Fantastic performance with great vocals. I just don't think it was exciting enough to get Ricky through.

Alexis Grace - I Never Loved a Man by Aretha Franklin

She killed it! Alexis proved that little white girls can sing Aretha songs, and sing them well. She stands a great chance at making it through. Top performance of the night!

Brent Keith - Hicktown by Jason Aldean

Solid performance. For his sake, I hope some country fans are voting because Brent was good. Whether he stays or go depends solely on whether Idol fans are country fans. I liked it, but then again I also like country.

Stevie Wright - You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift

See ya!!!! Worst performance of the night! Absolutely horrific!

Anoop Desai - Angel of Mine by Monica

This guy is good. I'm not quite sold on the song choice, but I thought he sung it well. Song choice might keep him from moving on, but he performed well.

Casey Carlson - Every Little Thing She Does by The Police

Love this song! Too bad Casey completely screwed it up. She tried way too hard. It's a shame that this will be the last time we see her because she is a very beautiful girl. This rivals Stevie as the worst performance of the night!

Michael Sarver - I Don't Wanna Be by Gavin DeGraw

Not good at all. Terrible vocals mixed with terrible stage presence. Marks the end of the road for our favorite Roughneck.

Ann Marie Boskovich - A Natural Woman by Aretha Franklin

The second Aretha song of the night was sung really well. Although not as good as Alexis, Ann Marie was very good. It could be hard for her to make it through though because there is only room for three.

Stephen Fowler - Rock With You by Michael Jackson

Not a bad performance, I just don't think Stephen is that good. Should be the end of the line for him.

Tatiana Del Toro - Saving All My Love For You by Whitney Houston

I hate this girl. She is the most annoying contestant to ever hit the Idol stage. It wasn't a terrible performance, but I don't know how anybody could ever vote to keep this girl on the show.

Danny Gokey - Hero by Mariah Carey

This guy can sing. Do not like the song, but this guy is good. He can sing whatever he wants and make it good. Great way to close the show and should be a shoe-in to move on.

Griffey signs with the wrong team!

Ken Griffey Jr. is headed to the Atlanta Braves after signing a one-year deal believed to be worth between $2 and $3 million in total compensation.

Many reports had Griffey possibly returning to Seattle. I knew it would be a longshot to get Junior back in a Mariners uniform on the sole reason the team is pathetic and has no shot at competing for a World Series title. However, I never would have guessed Griffey would sign with a National League team. What is the guy thinking? He cannot play in the field every day. There would be a lot more at-bats for Griffey available in the American League through the DH slot.

Griffey will start in left field, pushing Matt Diaz into a part-time role for now. However, with Junior's injury history, the roles will surely be switched midway through the season. When Griffey is sitting on the bench at the midpoint in the season, not playing because of a sore knee or hamstring, he won't help but think about being in the American League where the DH role would have the perfect fit.

Are You Kidding Me?

Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed, the player with arguably the worst haircut in the NFL was cited with assaulting a paper towel dispenser at a Sheetz convenience store in New Alexandria, PA. over the weekend. The reason: The restroom was out of paper towels.

This has to be the funniest/stupidest/most pathetic thing I have ever heard of. What makes it even more hilarious is the fact that kickers always wonder why people make fun of them. You have got to be kidding me.

Reed faces a maximum fine of $300 and 90 days in jail after police say the boy band wannabe damaged the towel dispenser and used profanity towards a store employee. He was cited for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.

MLB 09: The Show - First Impressions

Let me preface this post by stating MLB 08: The Show was possibly the greatest baseball video game ever, not only for PS3, but for every video game system. It had everything a gamer looks for in a baseball game. It had a deep franchise mode, it was a fun, and it didn't take as long to complete a game as many people would think. Possibly the best feature of the game though was the Road to the Show mode. In the RTTS mode, a user can take a custom player from the minor to the major, pretty much simulating the life of a professional baseball player-pretty cool stuff.

MLB 09 promises more of the same, but with graphical improvements along with a completely revamped RTTS mode.

The downloadable demo features a three-inning rematch of the World Series with the Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies. Upon first glance, the game looks identical to last year's model. To many gamers that may be a problem, but since last year's game was nearly flawless, why mess with the gameplay? The ballpark and player graphics are near flawless from what I can see in the 09 demo.

By default I was the Phillies and Cole Hamels was on the mound. I caught Akinori Iwamura looking for a third strike to record the first out of the game. A B.J. Upton single give the Rays the first runner of the game. Carl Crawford reached first as he was nearly doubled up on a grounder to second. Evan Longoria ended the top of the first with a deep fly to center.

Scott Kazmir got the nod for the Rays on the mound and he started out strong as he caught Jimmy Rollins chasing an inside slider for the first out. Jayson Werth popped up to third base for the second out and Chase Utley went down on strikes to end the first.

Carlos Pena led the second inning off with a single up the middle. Matt Joyce followed with a hard liner to left to give the Rays runners on first and second with no outs. Hamels got Dioner Navarro to chase a high running fastball to record the first out of the inning, then got Jason Bartlett to ground into a double play to end the top half of the second.

With my lack of offense, the game moved into extra innings as Kazmir continued to mow down my batters as he struck out eight in the game. Hamels settled down and didn't allow another baserunner until the fifth inning when Navarro blasted a solo-homerun over the right field wall to give the Rays a 1-0 lead. It proved to be the winning run as I was unable to answer in the bottom half of the inning as Kazmir shut me down in order.

So, I lost my first demo game 1-0, but it was still fun. Apparently I need to work on my offense a little bit as eight strikeouts in five innings is just not acceptable. Other than the fact I am not very good yet, this game is going to be great, just like last year's version.

The scheduled street date is 3/3/09. This game is only available for Playstation since it is a Sony game. I will definitely be picking this one up.

Come on man!

Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch was arrested in California last Wednesday night on felony charges of possession of a concealed firearm.

He was found with the loaded weapon when police on patrol came across Lynch and two other men in a 2006 Mercedes Benz. Lynch is currently free on bond, but considering the seriousness of the charge he may have to serve jail time. This is his second run-in with the law as a pro. The other incident dates back to June 2008 where Lynch is being investigated after allegedly striking a female pedestrian with his car and fleeing the scene.

Lynch should be facing some servere punishment by the NFL. Commisioner Roger Goodell isn't going to let this slide. Children look up to athletes, and this type of behavior is unacceptable. Come on Marshawn, you have got to be smarter than this... I hope.

Saturday Sports Briefs

Ken Griffey Jr. - It seems as if the Braves are in the running for the 39-year old future hall of famer. It completely makes zero sense for me that any National league team would eagerly pursue Junior, but hey, that's why I don't work in the front office for a MLB team. I still would bank on him landing a gig in the American League for the 2009 campaign, the most fitting team would be the Mariners.

Barry Bonds - Bond's former personal shopper has come forward and said that she has personally witnessed Bonds inject roids. Who cares? I sure don't. It is obvious Bonds has taken roids, I know it, and I haven't even personally seen him inject them.

Ervin Santana - The starting pitcher signed a 4-year, $30 million dollar extension with the Anaheim Angels. It is a pretty good deal for both sides. Santana was 16-7 with a 3.49 ERA last season with the Angels.

More Bad News For A-Rod

Alex Rodriguez just can't catch a break. The book, titled: A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez reportedly includes details into A-Rod's personal life.

Considering a lot of details about A-Rod's personal life have already been leaked, it might be interesting to see what else was dug up about the guy.

Here his is pictured in the Bahamas this past weekend relieving a little stress from the busy week of admitting he was on roids.

Griffey Back to Seattle?

Word is that Seattle is trying to bring Ken Griffey Jr. back. Griffey spent the first 11 years of his career in the city, so it would be fitting for Junior to end his career in the place it began. With 611 career homeruns, it seems unlikely he will break the all time home run record, but 650 seems well within his range if he can manage to play two more healthy seasons. It would also be a plus for the Mariners, who have continued to plummet. I see this as a win-win, and I really hopes this happens. Something wasn't right when Junior left Seattle for Cincinnati in 2000. He seemed to lose the joy he once had for the game, but hopefully a return to Seattle will rejuvenate the 39 year old future hall of famer. Get the deal done Seattle!

Good Bye Blaine!

This week's biggest loser was capped by Blaine from the Black team leaving the ranch. Blaine along with his teammate/ cousin Dane have consistently been one of the top teams throughout the show, so to see them only drop a combined weight of nine pounds this week was shocking to say the least. Everybody will have their slow weeks, but for them both to have a bad week at the same time was unfortunate. Both Blaine and Dane played the game the way it was supposed to be played through hard work and dedication. Even though it is a game and money is involved, you get the feeling that Blaine was there mainly to get his life much healthier, and lost 66 pounds while being on the show. That is the way the show should be.

Since being off the show, Blaine has continued to lose weight and improve his health. He has lost a total of 86 pounds and been training for an Ironman triathalon with a goal of finishing before the finale.

The Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile marathon run after. Anybody that can accomplish that is amazing. Even if he ends up doing a half Ironman - that is still amazing. Good luck Blaine, you are the man.

Well, it appears that after making its first Super Bowl appearance ever in a 27-23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the runner-up Arizona Cardinals are on the verge of losing several of its top players.

Receiver Anquan Boldin has stated that he will not resign with the Cards and is pursuing a trade. Running back Edgerrin James has expressed his displeasure of being in Arizona before the playoffs even started, making his return highly unlikely. Quarterback Kurt Warner is in the process of working out a contract, but his future is most definitely uncertain, especially considering the potential loss of Boldin. Another player the Cards are trying to keep Defensive Tackle Darnell Dockett. Dockett proved to be a monster in the post season, and his loss would most definitely be a hit to a defense that was making tremendous strides. With 2008 defensive coordinator Todd Haley headed to Kansas City, the Cards are looking at Steeler's linebacker's coach Keith Butler to fill the vacancy. The Cards sure know what he can do as the Steelers linebacking core of James Harrison, Lamarr Woodley and Lawrence Timmons had a huge Super Bowl game.

It was nice to see the Cards make the Super Bowl, hell I will always root for the underdog as long as they aren't playing the Redskins. It would be nice to see the core group of this team stay together for longer, but this is proof of what is wrong with professional sports today. Yes, Boldin deserves a bigger contract, and the fact that fellow receiver Larry Fitzgerald is willing to restructure his contract in order to keep Boldin there may help. It will also be beneficial for Boldin to have such a dynamic playmaker on the same team, so staying in Arizona seems like a win-win for Boldin on the outside - as long as he gets paid. James on the other hand has gotten lost in the backfield several times throughout the season, making his demands to get out seem legit and warrented. Warner wants to return, but he also only wants to return if the Cards can be a legitimate contender. Signing these players are huge for the Cards if they want to remain a playoff team, if a return to mediocrity is what is wanted then well, hand the ball off to that Matt Leinart guy from USC.

A-Rod Admits to Roids

So I have been a fan of Alex Rodriguez since he was a rookie in 1994, playing for the Seattle Mariners. He was a young star in the making. A-Rod has admitted to taking a banned substance in 2001-2003, while playing for the Texas Rangers.

Reportedly he along with 103 other players tested positive in 2003. He was called out because of his star stature, obviously headlining the list. I don't see a problem with that because it comes with the territory of being a star. He obviously will take the most heat because he is such a star and quite possible might obliterate the all-time homerun record, but seriously who are the other people that tested positive?

I commend A-Rod for admitting he made a mistake, I just need to see more athletes come out and do the same thing. I have no problem forgiving Arod for this mistake, but he better not be lying now about only taking roids through 2003. A lie like that will tarnish his name forever, if it hasn't already.
