St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach and former player Mark McGwire is "saddened" that his estranged brother, Jay McGwire would publish a book describing his steroid use according to an ESPN report.
Why wouldn't Jay write a book describing this? He doesn't talk to Mark, so the relationship obviously isn't strong in the first place. And second of all, Jay is probably disgusted like the rest of us that Mark didn't just come out and say what he did instead of letting all the facts slowly leak out from every direction. After all according to the book Jay was a big influence on getting Mark started on steroids, so why wouldn't anybody want to hear his story? All this could have been avoided, but Mark wanted to keep it silent and now his brother, whom he dislikes, will make money off him. That is probably the main reason he is upset.

American Idol Down To 20
Aside from about four people it didn't really matter who left American Idol this week. The majority was terrible and they probably could have gotten rid of more than half the contestants and nobody would have cared. With that being said, the four contestants that went home this week were Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady.
Janell was the hottest contestant this year for sure so that leaves Didi Benami as the only good looking chick left. Tyler Grady was the only real rock guy and even though I called him a little bitch in his performance last night - I didn't want him to go home. The other two, I don't really have opinions of other than they didn't have good performances this week either. Let's hope that next week is filled with better performances or I am going to have to stop watching this show and call an abrupt end to the Knox Animal American Idol Review.

Drunk, Underage Dude Tried To Fight Knowshon
An 18-year-old University of Georgia freshman is accusing former UGA running back and current Denver Bronco Knowshon Moreno of punching him and knocking him unconscious during a bar fight last weekend in downtown Athens, GA.
However, Stephen Anderson, 18, admits he was drunk at the time of the brawl and couldn't identify the three men that "jumped" him at Bourbon Street Bar on Saturday night, according to an AJC report.
Yea, strong case Mr. Anderson...

American Idol Review: The Top 24 (Men)
Last night was ladies night, so the men are up tonight. Here's how they did:
Todrick Hall - Since You've Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson
Todrick took a song and completely changed it to make it his own. That is the good thing, the bad thing is that I thought it was terrible. However, he showed his creativity and that alone should help him get through this week.
Aaron Kelly - Here Comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts
This was a total karaoke performance. He looked nervous as hell and his stage presence needs to improve. Yeah, he is only 16 so I will cut him a break in the beginning, but he definitely has plenty of room to grow. He has a really good voice, he just needs to do something to make me remember him.
Jermaine Sellers - Get Here by Oleta Adams
I am very unfamiliar with this song and it's not really my cup of tea. With that being said, Jermaine showed that he loved this song and he performed it well. His vocals were solid and it was a great first performance for him. He was one of my favorites heading into this week and he didn't let me down.
Tim Urban - Apologize by One Republic
Definitely not the best I have heard. He struggled a little on the mini falsettos and he could be in some big trouble with the voters. He looked nervous and it showed out there.
Joe Munoz - You and I by Jason Mraz
Not bad and probably at this point it is the best performance of the night. Joe actually surprised me on that one by doing a Jason Mraz song. He looked comfortable and happy to be up there on the stage and that is the main reason it worked. He did well tonight.
Tyler Grady - American Woman by The Guess Who
The first true rock performance of the night, but the song was too big for him. He didn't own it the way a rock song needs to be owned and he ended up looking like a little bitch up there. It was not great, but it was alright enough to get him through to next week I would hope. I like the guy, so I hope he will be back.
Lee Dewyze - Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
Snow Patrol is one of those bands that makes me cringe, but that doesn't take away from what Lee did tonight. He did his thing with the guitar and he represented the song well. He did a good job out there tonight.
John Park - God Bless The Child by Billie Holliday
This was the wrong song for John. It started off rough as hell, but he did redeem himself about midway through. It just didn't do anything at all for me. It was boring and this could be his last performance on Idol.
Michael Lynche - This Love by Maroon 5
Meh... He picked the right type of song for his strengths, but I didn't love the performance. I like Michael, but this wasn't one of my favorite performances of his. It was alright though.
Alex Lambert - What A Wonderful World by James Morrison
Terrible. His voice was off, his dance moves were worse and he just looked awkward as hell up there. Not a good performance and I will be shocked if he makes it to next week.
Casey James - Heaven by Bryan Adams
Finally we get a great performance. It was about damn time because i was getting really worried for this season. He was very consistant and he didn't really try to do too much with it. He just executed it and it was the best of the night.
Andrew Garcia -Sugar We're Going Down by Fall Out Boy
It was pretty good, but not my favorite by any means. He is one of my favorites on the show this season, but I didn't really get into this performance. I have no doubt that he will bounce back and do well in this competition.

American Idol Review: The Top 24 (Ladies)
It's the first week of voting on American Idol. That means that it's time for Knox Animal to voice his opinion on this season's contestants. This week it's the top 24 and the top 12 women are up first. Here is how they did through the eyes of KA.
Paige Miles -All Right Now by Free
Was I listening to the same thing as the judges? They all liked her, but I thought she sounded terrible. It was the wrong song choice and it didn't fit her voice at all. She was off pitch and it was a terrible way to start the show.
Ashley Rodriguez - Happy by Leona Lewis
Things didn't get any better here as Ashley underwhelmed the world with a boring version of the Leona Lewis song. Just a boring and very forgettable performance.
Janell Wheeler - What About Love by Heart
The first decent performance of the night, but wasn't great. She looks hot, but I can't help but feeling like it was a very karaoke performance. She looked confident and I like her, but the performance didn't wow me.
Lilly Scott - Fixing a Hole by The Beatles
Lilly has her own style about her and it is a breath of fresh air. It is the first solid performance of the night. She has great potential to be a great artist because she stands out. Great performance and I have a feeling Lilly will be around for a while.
Katelyn Epperly - Oh Darling by The Beatles
I liked what Katelyn did tonight. She was into the song and it showed that she is very passionate about her performances. I hate the people that come on American Idol and sing songs just to make it through and it showed the Katelyn actually really liked this song. When that happens, it really comes out in the performance. She will only get better and this was a good start for her on the show.
Haeley Vaughn - I Want To Hold Your Hand by The Beatles
This may be my least favorite Beatles song, but Haeley actually made it sound badass. She had a guitar and it was very reggaeish. She added her own flare and it worked. Yeah, it wasn't perfect especially on the high notes, but I expect to see Haeley on this show for a while.
Lacey Brown - Landslide by Fleetwood Mac
Not good at all. It seemed like she mumbled her way through the song. It is one of the best songs of history in my book and it didn't need to be changed at all. The arrangement was terrible and the performance was equally bad. She could be in trouble after that one.
Michelle Delamor - Fallin by Alicia Keys
It was a good performance by Michelle, but it was a tough song to sing. She was really confident in her performance, but she didn't so anything to make me remember that performance. It was good, but not great.
Didi Benami - The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson
Good song choice not only because I like the song, but because it is a different style of song compared to everybody else. It was a great song and I thought she did a good job with it. Yeah, it wasn't a performance that blew me away, but it was plenty good enough at this point in the competition.
Siobhan Magnus - Wicked Game by Chris Isaak
She has a really nice voice and she did an alright job with this song. She did her own thing with the song and it wasn't bad. Nice first performance for Siobhan.
Crystal Bowersox - Hand in my Pocket by Alanis Morissette
She looks really happy and comfortable when she is on stage. She is original and she is good for American Idol. It was a great song choice and she could be my favorite of the night.
Katie Stevens - Feelin Good by Michael Buble
Good performance to end the show with. It could have been my favorite of the night, but she didn't do enough with the song to stand out. I expect better things out of her in the future.

Shaun White Defends Gold In Halfpipe
In what has become arguably the most exciting event in the Winter Olympics, the Halfpipe - Shaun White showed why he is the best. The 23-year-old American defended the Gold medal he won in Torino with one this year in Vancouver. I am not sure what the terminology for his tricks were, but they were badass for sure.
White's win marked the third US Gold medal for the day as Lindsey Vonn captured the Women's Downhill ski title and speedskater Shani Davis won the Men's 1,000m.

Tiger Woods Out Of Hiding
PGATour.com has reported that Tiger Woods will have a press conference at PGA Tour headquarters at 11:00 a.m. ET on Friday. He will reportedly talk about the events leading up to his hiatus from golf. It is also reported that he will not field any questions during this time.
This should be a very interesting press conference. The fact that questions from reporters will not be answered dulls the excitement a little bit, but nonetheless I am interested in hearing what the guy has to say since he has been in hiding for nearly three months. Let's hope he can man-up to his mistakes so everybody can put this in the back of their minds and move forward.

Valentine's Day Movie Review: From A Man
So, I went to see this movie with my wife on Friday (opening night) and it was about as good as I expected. I didn't think it would be any groundbreaking chick-flick and I was correct in my speculations. There were a ton of prominent actors and actresses in this movie, so it was obvious that no one character would have a deep story line. Like many movies with multiple high profile actors, the story line was all over the place. However, what this movie did well was tie in everything very well at the end.

Janikowski Set To Be Richest Kicker
Who says it doesn't pay to be a kicker? Sebastian Janikowski is on the verge of signing a four year, $16 million deal to stay with the Oakland Raiders. Janikowski has spent all 10 of his NFL seasons with the Raiders and has been one of the most productive kickers in NFL history. He has scored 1,000 points, converting 78.4 percent of his field goal attempts (229 of 292) and 313 of 316 extra-point attempts. Sometimes kickers are worth it and for a Raiders team that struggles to score points, it seems like a wise move to keep their best scoring weapon happy.

Adventureland: Surprisingly Decent
When I sat down to watch Adventureland I was not expecting a very good movie at all. Numerous friends told me that this movie was: "not good", "sucked", "not funny", so I truly expected it to be a waste of my valuable time. However, that was not the case as I was thoroughly entertained and marked it down as one of my favorite movies of 2009.
The basis of the movie is James, played by Jesse Eisenberg, needs money for upcoming college expenses, so he goes to work at an amusement park called Adventureland. He then falls in love with Em (Kristen Stewart), a co-worker at Adventurland and his priorities change over the course of the summer as James learns what he truly values in life. The movie is set in 1987, so that explains the outfits and throwback lingo that is seen throughout the film.
First of all Stewart is a hell of an actress. Yes, she may come across as bitchy out in the real world, but who cares. She is awesome and she is really hot in a weird way. Eisenberg proved to be very good in his role as a fresh out of college kid in need of a summer job.

Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21-year old Olympic luger from the Georgia Republic died when he came off his sled during a practice run yesterday. Two things here: Luging is f-ing dangerous as hell and why wasn't there a guard rail or padding to prevent things like this. It is a terribly sad way to start the Olympics.
*video containing the actual run has been removed from Youtube. I replaced it with a video containing stills from the accident as well as an AP story with American lugers discussing how fast the track is a day prior to the accident.

Initial Bonnaroo 2010 Lineup Impressions
Where's The Jam
Bonnaroo is a festival that's roots originated with a very heavy jam band filled lineup. This year it is lacking greatly in that department. All I see on the lineup that resembles a jam band is Dave Matthews Band, Les Claypool, The Disco Biscuits and Lotus. I don't look at DMB as a jam band usually, but compared to the rest of the bands in the lineup they will be this year. Where is Furthur, String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, Keller Williams, Yonder Mountain String Band, Allman Brothers, Government Mule or any form of Warren Haynes?
The Headliners
Dave Matthews Band, Kings of Leon, Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z make up the headliners this year. Those are very good headliners, but the problem is that Superfly, AC Entertainment and the Bonnaroo staff delayed the lineup announcement, giving people more time to speculate. When people speculate, it's never a good sign. There were names such as The Who, Roger Waters and Neil Young floating around, so naturally people are going to be pissed when none of them were in the initial lineup. Stevie Wonder is a big time get for Bonnaroo no matter how you look at it. Booking Jay-Z for most likely a late night set is a solid addition to any lineup - not to mention it was Coachella's number one headliner. DMB tours a lot, so adding him to a festival lineup may not be surprising, but it's DMB so it's always a great addition to any lineup. Last but not least there is KOL. They have grown in popularity a lot in the past year. People who say they use to like them all of a sudden don't like them anymore because of their newest album - but mainly the singles "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody". The important thing here is that those are only two songs and admittedly the bands least favorite. They still play their older hits like "Milk" and "Trani", so I'm not buying any argument that says they have sold out. Despite what I am hearing, this year's headliners are very good.
The Undercard
Weezer, Dead Weather, Phoenix, Les Claypool, Michael Franti, Thievery Corporation, The Black Keys, John Fogarty and Zac Brown Band are among the many impressive bands listed in the undercard this year. Other bands such as John Butler Trio, Allison Kraus and Union Station have confirmed that they will be on the farm this year. While those additions help, I am yearning for one or two more solid adds for the undercard. Hopefully Spoon or Mofro in addition to a jam band or two.

Peyton Blew It
Just when we thought that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning was on the verge of leading his Colts down the field for a lead-changing score, he blew it.
It was a seemingly ordinary play for the Colts. Manning to Reggie Wayne. Perhaps it was too ordinary as Saints cornerback Tracy Porter was expecting it. Manning fired a pass to the slanting Wayne, but Porter broke first. As Porter raced to the endzone pretty much uncontested, it was apparent that the Saints defied the odds and got the best of quite possibly the best quarterback to ever take a snap. Saints win 31-17.

NFL News and Notes
Here are the latest grumblings from around the NFL:
Michael Vick Could be St. Louis Bound
According to a report from Jason LaCanfora on NFL Network Wednesday, the Rams could be a very likely landing spot for Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. The Eagles have recently said that they do not plan to deal Vick, but that could all change once a deal is actually on the table. If the Rams were able to land Vick, it would most likely mean that they wouldn't have to draft a quarterback with their No. 1 Overall pick, leaving the door wide open to draft stud DT Ndamukong Suh out of Nebraska with the top pick.
Usi Could Quit
In an interview with radio station WFAN Wednesday, Giants DE Usi Umenyiora insisted he will quit football if he's not starting for the Giants in 2010. He was benched late in the season, and I am still trying to find a reasonable explanation for it. Umenyiora is much too talented to not be starting next season, so I fully expect to see the former All-Pro in a Giants uniform next year.

Dooley Impresses With First Vols Recruiting Class
Nobody knew how new Vols coach Derek Dooley would do with his first recruiting class at the University of Tennessee. When former coach Lane Kiffin left for USC a month before National Signing Day, many people thought the Vols class would wither away. However, Dooley and his staff got to work immediately after being hired and made the most of the remaining three weeks.
Kiffin and his staff tried to recruit some of the Vol commitments, and they got a few including coveted receiver Markeith Ambles. But, Dooley then responded by stealing Georgia five-star receiver commitment Da'Rick Rogers. At this point its hard to tell who is better, but that will most likely be a comparison to expect throughout their college careers. The Vols locked down one of the best offensive lineman in the country in James Stone because of Dooley. Stone was headed to Alabama because of his dislike for Kiffin, but with the Dooley hiring, he became interested in the Vols.
You add those two in to the rest of the recruits the Vols were able to hold onto and they have a top 10 recruiting class. Not bad at all for having to rebuild a coaching staff less than a month before National Signing Day. Only time will tell how these recruits will turn out, but right now hats off to Dooley and his staff for doing a hell of a job on short notice.

Jeremy Piven Doesn't Deliver The Goods
Despite numerous bad reviews and people telling me that The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard was one of the worst movies to come out this past year - I decided to check it out myself. I mean, it has Jeremy Piven in it so how bad could it really be?
Well the short answer to it is 'bad' and the long answer is 'very bad'. The movie wasn't funny at all. My wife fell asleep, and I at several moments throughout the movie contemplated turning it off even though I knew I was going to share my observations with Knox Animal readers.
If you have seen this movie, I really am sorry and if you haven't seen this movie, trust me when I say that it is the worst movie I have ever seen.

A Well Deserved Pro Bowl For London Fletcher
Washington Redskins middle linebacker London Fletcher got to experience something that he should have been able to experience several times this past weekend. The 12-year NFL veteran from John Carroll got to play in his first Pro-Bowl Sunday and it was very well deserved. Fletcher was orginially selected as an alternate for the game, but with Saints Jonathon Vilma not able to play because his team is in the Super Bowl and 49ers Patrick Willis pulling out because of an injury - the door was opened for Fletcher even though he should have been there anyway.
Fletcher's numbers are insane. There is no way in hell this guy should ever be overlooked for the Pro-Bowl. The fact that he hasn't been selected to one Pro Bowl should be a sign that it is done wrong. Here is what Fletcher has done in his career.

Colts Freeney Super Bowl Chances In Doubt
Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney is nursing a sprained right ankle and his Super Bowl Chances look to be in doubt at the moment. Some reports suggest that Freeney has a torn ligament in the ankle, but Colts team sources are denying the claim - stating that it is just a sprain. Whatever the diagnosis proves to be doesn't matter since it is obvious that the ankle is giving the Pro-Bowler a lot of trouble.
Not having Freeney in the lineup would be a huge loss for the Colts and surely a sigh of relief for the Saints offense. Freeney is no doubt the Colts most feared defensive player as he has 13.5 sacks this season - good for third in the league. This could prove to be the biggest factor in the game.
