American Idol Says Goodbye To Siobhan Magnus

All I can say is it is about damn time. She has gotten worse every week and obviously I wasn't the only one that felt that way. Her one trick was the screaming high note and even that got annoying as hell as each week passed. She had a good run, but it was her time to go.

American Idol Review: The Top 6

Shania Twain songbook

Lee DeWyze - You're Still The One
It was pretty good. It was still pretty damn weird hearing a dude sing that song, but he did what he could with it.

Michael Lynche - It Only Hurts When I Breathe
Very nice. This guy is either hit or miss and tonight he knocked that shit out of the park.

Casey James - Don't
This was a perfect song for Casey to perform because it gave him a chance to sing. We are so used to him perfoming songs with catchy choruses and we don't really hear the kind of singing voice he really has. Tonight he showed that he was for real.

Crystal Bowersox - No One Needs To Know
She got the band in there real close and performed this song the way that she knows how to. She is all about being Crystal and I think everybody is cool with that.

Aaron Kelly - You Got A Way
It's about time for this kid to go.

Siobhan Magnus - Any Man Of Mine
This girl's performances are like a bad cold. At first you think it will be alright, but it just keeps getting worse and worse until you want to kill yourself.

Jamarcus Russell Is Bigger Than Ever

News about Oakland Raiders quarterback Jamarcus Russell has emerged that the former No. 1 overall pick is now a bigger fat-ass than ever. Reports say that Russell is now weighing in at 300 pounds, which is unheard of for a quarterback. Has anybody thought about putting this guy on the O-Line to protect the man Russell lost his job to, former Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell?

They Forgot About Jimmy Clausen

Remember the time that Jimmy Clausen was supposed to be picked in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, but wasn't? Yeah, that just happened and the Notre Dame product will have to wait around for another day before finding out his NFL future.

To make things worse for Clausen, who elected to forgo his senior season at Notre Dame, was that Florida's Tim Tebow was selected 25th overall by the Denver Broncos. Why is this a big deal? Well, because Tebow had to change his throwing motion and endure hefty criticism that he isn't a NFL caliber quarterback. I bet Clausen wishes he stayed at Notre Dame for his senior season now.

American Idol Says Goodbye To Tim Urban

During this year's Idol gives back show we had to say goodbye to one of this season's most scrutinized contestants, Tim Urban.

Urban's journey on the show started rough. He was eliminated early on and then brought back when a contestant had to back out. Tim had his ups, but had many more downs during this competition. He got ragged on, but he kept smiling. I don't exactly know why he was so damn happy, but it was obvious he was pleased to be there. He took the judge's advice and worked hard trying to implement it in his performance. They guy tried, but he just isn't that good. He had his moments, but he needed to be a lot better than he was showing to make it past the Top 7.

American Idol Review: The Top 7

Inspirational Songs

Casey James - Don't Stop by Fleetwood Mac
Another good week from Casey. It wasn't great, but it was good enough. Once again he ripped the shit out the guitar, so that was cool.

Lee DeWyze - The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel
It was a good song choice for Lee. He sang it pretty good, but more importantly it was a meaningful song to him and it came out in his performance tonight.

Tim Urban - Better Days by Goo Goo Dolls
Simply horrible. Tim had a great week last week, but tonight we are back to the normal Tim and he just isn't that good.

Aaron Kelly - I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly
I just can't picture a little kid up there singing this song. It was just weird to me.

Siobhan Magnus - If You Believe by Mariah Carey
This should be the end of the road for Siobhan. I'm over her shit and she needs to go.

Michael Lynche - Hero by Nickelback
Aside from the fact that Nickeback is beyond horrible, Michael's performance was okay. Nickeback is a joke and I don't know how anybody performing one of their songs can be taken seriously.

Crystal Bowersox -
Performing without a guitar. Crystal was pretty awesome this week. She is a true artist and she is going to put on a great performance every week. She gave me chills tonight and she continues to kick ass in this competition.

Crystal Bowesox Quits American Idol, Almost

News out of the American Idol camp is that a couple weeks ago, Crystal Bowersox almost quit American Idol. That was of course until America's favorite manlet, Ryan Seacrest talked some sense into Idol's most talented contestant ever.

According to a NY Daily News report, Bowersox stated reasons such as missing her family and because she hated the attention that the show was bringing her, she was seriously considering bowing out of the competition that she is by far the favorite to win. However, Seacrest was able to talk her into staying.

If Crystal left the competition, there would be a lot of pissed off people out there. The remaining contestants are nowhere near as talented as Bowersox and the competition would have been left with a black cloud hovering over it. Whoever ended up winning the competition would know that they were not the best of the season and it would just be a terrible situation. So, let's hope that Crystal doesn't revisit the thought of quitting or Knox Animal may just have to quit watching this show forever.

American Idol Says Goodbye To Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens

We are finally able to say goodbye to Andrew Garcia. It was only a matter of time before this would happen and it was probably better for everybody that it was sooner rather than later. Let's face it, Andrew just isn't that good and I was sick of hearing the judges try to justify that he has talent. He had one moment in this competition when  he performed Straight Up. Other than that he has been horrible.

Katie Stevens has a good voice, but there is something very annoying about her. She has just the immaturity to piss people off and she obviously didn't have the fan support to stay in the competition. She could have a good career in the music industry because she really does have a good voice. She is still really young and she will mature with time and I think it will help her in the long run.

American Idol Review: The Top 9 Again

Elvis week

Crystal Bowersox - Saved
For the first time, I wasn't blown away by a Crystal performance. It was overall pretty good and I don't have anything bad to say about it other than it wasn't one of the most memorable Crystal performances. For any other contestant it would have been great, but for her it was just good.

Andrew Garcia - Hound Dog
Simply terrible. He made it his own and it turned out to be a big pile of shit.

Tim Urban - I Can't Help Falling In Love With You
This was really damn good. There is a voice inside this kid after all. You know, after all the abuse Tim took early on in this show, he is really coming into his own. He put together a very strong performance this week.

Lee DeWyze - A Little Less Conversation
Another kickass performance from Lee. The guy has the voice to be a star and he didn't ruin my favorite Elvis song, so he did well.

Aaron Kelly - Blue Suede Shoes
It started a little rough for me, but it got a little better throughout. It wasn't rememborable by any means, but it wasn't bad.

Siobhan Magnus - Suspicious Minds
Just okay. She is much more talented than she has shown in the past few weeks. She brought back that damn scream this week and it just proved that it is her only trick in the bag. Yeah, she can hit the high notes, but who the hell cares?

Michael Lynche - In The Ghetto
He redeemed himself this week after last week's horrible effort. Michael really connected with this song and it was very good. He proved that the judges made a good move by saving him.

Katie Stevens - Baby What Do You Want Me To Do
She actually did really well tonight. She was able to perform a song to show her emotions and feelings and it worked in her favor. She has a really good voice, so the big thing with her is song choice. This was a good one for her.

Casey James -Lawdy Miss Claudy
This was really awesome. Not quite my performance of the night, but it was close.

Another Player Leaves Vols

After to-be sophomores Bryce Brown and Aaron Douglas announced they were leaving the Vols earlier this spring, senior quarterback Nick Stephens has decided to do the same. The only difference with this announcement is that nobody cares.

Stephens has struggled to find playing time as a member of the Vols. This was a risk that he didn't want to take heading into his senior season. Junior college transfer Matt Sims and true freshman Tyler Bray have already out-shined Stephens in spring workouts, so it became evident that once again the senior would struggle to find playing time.

While, there is still no official word on the Brown situation, it is widely believed that he will be heading back to Kansas to play for Kansas State. Meanwhile, rumors about Douglas have been swirling. The best one is that some believe that football isn't his true passion and rapping is. While this is comical to many, it isn't as far fetched as you might think. Check out his myspace page and you will see what I am talking about.

Sundown In The City 2010 Lineup Announced

What does everybody think of the lineup?

American Idol Almost Says Goodbye To Michael Lynche

I can honestly say that America got this one correct. I thought he was absolutely horrible this week. However, the judges still see something in this guy that I do not.

I did think that he had a greater fan base than he obviously did - which is comforting to my ears. I was rejoicing for that fact that I wasn't going to have to see the big gorilla pick up and hug anybody else the rest of the season, but the judges had to ruin that thought.

Now that the save is out of play, let's hope somebody that is actually good doesn't get voted off next week.

American Idol Review: The Top 9

John Lennon and Paul McCartney Songbook!

Aaron Kelly - The Long and Winding Road
It was a nice song for Aaron to start the night with. Was I blown away? No. Was I impressed? Not really. Pretty boring if you ask me.

Katie Stevens - Let It Be
This is such a great song. Any time I hear this song, I am instantly reminded of why I like it so much. I don't think it's possible to sing that song and not be into it. Katie did a fantastic job relating to the song tonight and it was my favorite Katie performance of the season.

Andrew Garcia - Can't Buy Me Love
As much as I want to like this, I just don't. I do give him credit for making the song his own. At least he wasn't boring.

Michael Lynche - Eleanor Rigby
Are you serious? I had high hopes for this performance after he said he performed it with his family band as a kid. But, man did he ever ruin one of the greatest Beatles songs ever written. I honestly do not have anything positive to say about it. Yes, it really was that bad. However, he won't be in the bottom three because people like him - which is a horribly bad joke.

Crystal Bowersox - Come Together
It is insane how much better she is than everybody else. She literally makes everybody else sound like shit.

Tim Urban - All My Loving
Following Crystal was no easy task, and Tim actually did really well for himself tonight. It was one of his best performances yet.

Casey James - Jealous Guy
Loved it. It was one of the best of the night and to be quite honest, I can't say it was any worse than Crystal even though she was amazing. This was my favorite Casey performance so far.

Siobhan Magnus - Across The Universe
Very underwhelming. It sounded very old fashioned and to be honest, it was terrible.

Lee DeWyze - Hey Jude
It was a nice performance to end the show with. Overall, it was a really good performance for Lee. He didn't captivate me the way Crystal and Casey did, but it was a solid third in my book.

Why I Hate Duke!

Having grown up in the Maryland area, I grew up an avid fan of the Maryland Terrapins. Aside the fact that my mother was a graduate of the University, it was my home town school. If you are a Terrapin, it is only natural to despise other ACC schools, but most certainly Duke. The Blue Devils have a way about them and they are a team that only a mother could love. Translation - unless you went to Duke or know somebody that goes to Duke, you don't like them. It's a team that you either love or hate, and I grew up doing the latter.

When the Blue Devils barely squeezed by the heavy underdog Butler Bulldogs in Monday night's NCAA Men's National Championship basketball game, I couldn't help but cringe. Who didn't want the underdog Bulldogs to pull off what most saw as unthinkable? It's the same reason the New York Yankees and New England Patriots are hated - because they are good. Is it jealously? Maybe a little bit, but that is what fuels fans and sports in general. It's the thought of beating a great team like a Duke or the Yankees that keeps the game strong.

So what am I looking forward to next NCAA basketball season? Seeing somebody knock off the defending National Champion Duke Blue Devils.

McNabb's A Redskin

Just when you thought that the future of Donovan McNabb would take place in either Oakland or Buffalo, another mediocre team emerged to get a deal done for the 11-year veteran quarterback. The Washington Redskins won the McNabb battle with a 2nd rounder in the 2010 NFL Draft and either a 3rd or 4th next year depending on the success of the quarterback.

Deals like this usually don't happen within a division, but things were different here obviously. Even though McNabb didn't have a trade clause in his contract, McNabb did not want to be dealt to Oakland or Buffalo. His first choice was Washington and it just so happened that the Redskins were one of the first teams to contact Philadelphia about acquiring McNabb back in February. The key component to this deal was the 2011 pick and that proved to be all it took to ship the former All-Pro quarterback to an in-division foe.

Philadelphia fans wanted change and they got it. The Redskins get stability at the quarterback position, which they have lacked solid production for the last decade. Because it's a same division team, McNabb get's to face his former team twice a season guaranteed. You better believe those games are going to be exciting and only time will tell which team got the end of the deal.
