Clemson Should Be Embarrassed
Watching the Clemson and West Virginia game last night was just terrible. In what looked like an intriguing matchup between No. 15 Clemson and No. 23 West Virginia quickly turned into one of the most lopsided games in bowl history as the Mountaineers crushed the Tigers 70-33 in the Discover Orange Bowl.
West Virginia's Geno Smith passed for 401 yards and six touchdowns and receiver Tavon Austin had 11 catches for 117 yards and four touchdowns. Both touchdown marks tied bowl records.
The Clemson defense in this game was just terrible. They gave up 589 yards of offense to the Mountaineers, but more astonishing was the number of third downs Clemson allowed West Virginia to complete. West Virginia was 10-of-16 on third downs in the game, and number that ultimately allowed them to put up 70.
No team should give up 70 points in a game, yet alone a BCS bowl team. Clemson should be ashamed of what took place, because frankly I am embarrassed for them.
