Vols Manage To Land Solid 2012 Class

Despite the turmoil in the Tennessee Vols coaching staff this offseason, the Vols managed to still sign a Top 20 recruiting class.

Having already two of the best receivers in the country, the Vols signed four solid receiver prospects, highlighted by JuCo Cordarrelle Patterson. The 6-foot-4, 205 pound receiver from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas was rated as a four-star. Other four-star receivers Drae Bowles, Jason Croom and Alton Howard also picked the Vols.

The defensive highlight of the day was when the Vols received a letter of intent from Dallas, TX safety LaDarrell McNeil. The 6-foot-1, 190 pounder was rated as a four-star and one of the Vols' most prized signees this offseason. For a secondary that is thin, adding a player like McNeil is a huge plus. In addition to McNeil, the Vols signed 6-foot-6, 380 pound JuCo defensive tackle Daniel McCullers to add depth to a depleted defensive line.
