Kentucky Captures Title

It ended the way it was supposed to end. Let's face it, the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team was the best team in 2012. Throughout the entire season, we saw the Wildcats (38-2) destroy opponents one after the next.

Comprised of mostly underclassmen, the Wildcats put together a 2011-2012 season that would rival any other. The team is loaded. Starting with arguably the top pick in this year's draft, freshman center Anthony Davis, there isn't another team in the country that matches up to this team down the roster. Other freshman phenom Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is another lottery pick that could go right behind Davis when the draft comes around. The Kentucky backcourt is led by freshman Marquis Teague, another first round talent. Sophomores Doron Lamb and Terrance Jones are also capable of being first round picks.

When a team is put together as well as this one is put together, it would have been a bigger shock if the Wildcats didn't win the title this season. You have got to give it to Kentucky coach John Calipari because we have seen him put together championship caliber teams season after season. Only this season, it finally clicked with this squad. Unfortunately for Calipari and Kentucky, they will most likely have to do it all over again when the majority of this team leaves early for the NBA.
