Tyrann Mathieu Kicked Off LSU Football Team

All-American defensive back and return man Tyrann Mathieu is no longer a member of the LSU Tigers football team. LSU head coach Les Miles broke the news in a press conference this morning, citing violation of team rules as the culprit for Mathieu's dismissal.

This is a huge blow to LSU, who is not only losing their top return man, but one of the best defensive players in college football. Mathieu, known as Honey Badger, had a knack for making plays. In his two years at LSU, Mathieu forced 11 fumbles, recovering eight of them. Mathieu finishes his LSU career with 133 tackles and four interceptions.

It is expected that Mathieu will enroll in a small school and then enter the NFL draft next season. It's probably not the way a Heisman finalist from a year ago wanted to end his college career, but it goes to show you how important it is to stay disciplined and follow team rules. I know it wasn't easy for Miles to kick his best player off the team and I respect that he did it. A team is much bigger than one person, and the dismissal of Mathieu proves that point.
