NFL Tidbits

  • The Philadelphia Eagles named Michael Vick the starting quarterback over Nick Foles. Was this even in question, because I don't know anybody that thought Foles would win the job.
  • The word out of Washington is that quarterback Robert Griffin III continues to look good in practice, strengthening the fact that he will be ready for Week 1 when the Redskins host Philadelphia on Monday Night Football.
  • Arian Foster continues to be injury prone this season. Foster has battled calf and back injuries this pre-season. It will be interesting to see what kind of workload the former workhorse will be able to handle this season for the Texans.
  • Brandon Weeden has been named the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback. Weeden has looked good this preseason despite solid competition from NFL veteran Jason Campbell.
  • Redskins backup quarterback Kirk Cousins injured his foot in last night's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The injury isn't considered serious, but it should be enough to keep Cousins off the field the rest of preseason. Expect Rex Grossman and Pat White to battle it out the final two preseason games for the No. 3 quarterback spot in Washington.
