Cousins To Start For Redskins

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan hinted at starting Kirk Cousins against Atlanta this week at his press conference Monday. Today, sources close to the Redskins are starting that Cousins will in fact start instead of Robert Griffin III.

With three games left this season, the move makes sense. RGIII missed out on the entire off season a year ago and has struggled to return to form this year. In the process, the offensive line has failed to protect the young star.

As for Cousins, he has value. He proved to be a reliable backup a year ago when Griffin was injured. There have been reports of other teams being interested in Cousins, so why not showcase him a little? Is there a better way to drive up value than to let him play the last three games of the year? If the Redskins were willing to part ways with the second year quarterback out of Michigan State, they may be able to recoup some of the draft picks they gave up to draft Griffin.
