Redskins Need To Lock Down Riley

Similar to my feelings last week on Brian Orakpo, the Washington Redskins need to ensure that they sign Perry Riley. Riley played aside now retired London Fletcher at inside linebacker, so losing Riley to free-agency would be a huge blow to Redskins defense. The Redskins have groomed Riley to take over for Fletcher once he retired. It would be a huge blow if Riley and the Redskins were not able to reach a deal, and the 25 year-old signed with another team.

Riley has shown great promise over the past few seasons. The upcoming season will be a huge test for Riley and answer a lot of questions about how much of an impact player he actually is. Playing alongside Fletcher, Riley looked like he could be an All-Pro caliber linebacker. It will be interesting to see how he will do running the defense.

That point aside, the Redskins cannot afford to replace both of it's starting middle linebackers in free agency.
