Manziel's Gonna Be Manziel

The Cleveland Browns knew what they were getting when they drafted Johnny Manziel with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Manziel was a great player at Texas A&M. He did things on the field that have never been done before. He was a star on the field. He was also a star off the field, creating a celebrity quarterback that you either love or hate. This is all old news. Manziel is going to be Manziel. Afterall, this is what got him to where he is today.

Manziel dissected college defenses like few have ever done. He was a flat out playmaker. He did all of this while under a microscope on and off the field. He likes to party - what 22-year-old college student doesn't? His work ethic must still be there as his play has never suffered. Manziel is one of those unique young players that can handle the spotlight like a seasoned veteran. He is a superstar, he gets attention and Cleveland knows all of this.

When Manziel made headlines over Memorial Day weekend for partying in Vegas, it shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. This is what Manziel does. It is what he will continue to do. The only word of caution is that the NFL is a different beast to be tamed than the NCAA. If Manziel's work ethic and lifestyle has told us anything in the past is that he can manage the two seamlessly. Until I see otherwise on the field, I have no problem with Manziel being Manziel. It's what got him to Cleveland and it's what has made him the most talked about player this NFL off-season so far.
